Honda Aircraft Company Sends 500 Care Packages to Deployed North Carolina-Based Troops

GREENSBORO, N.C., Dec. 5, 2012 – Honda Aircraft Company conducted “Operation Deep Appreciation” yesterday at its world headquarters in Greensboro, N.C. The company shipped 500 care packages to North Carolina-based troops on active duty in Afghanistan and Kuwait as part of the company-wide effort. Now in its fourth year, “Operation Deep Appreciation” offers Honda Aircraft associates the opportunity to express their support and gratitude for deployed United States servicemen and servicewomen during the holiday season.

“We strive to impact our communities and society in a positive way,” said Michimasa Fujino, Honda Aircraft Company’s president and chief executive officer. “Our associates enthusiastically support this project each year, and their participation reflects a deep thankfulness for the men and women serving in the U.S. military.”

“Operation Deep Appreciation” project organizers, many who are experts in logistics and engineering, developed an efficient process to construct hundreds of boxes in a matter of hours. The event is meticulously executed with more than 20 stations designated for each item arranged inside Honda Aircraft’s production facility. Associates visit station after station filling each care package with various items and topping each box’s contents with a personalized, handwritten note. The 500, 12-inch-by-12-inch-by-5-inch boxes contain socks, sundries, snacks, candy, holiday decorations and other items. The care packages are scheduled to arrive in time for Christmas. The costs for the packages are underwritten by Honda Aircraft Company. Honda Aircraft has shipped approximately 2,000 care packages to U.S. servicemen and servicewomen since conducting its first “Operation Deep Appreciation” effort in 2009.
